The Functional Materials Research Institute of the Central Iron and Steel Research Institute is one of the bases of the research and team undertaking research,development and production 80% of member are the technical persons doing the research and development,including 1 member of China Academy of Sciences,4 experts received state special subsidy,3 national class outstanding young and middle-aged experts and 4 doctor advises It is authorized to grant doctor and master degree for 1 discipline respectively,and the post-doctorate station for the industrial research institute is established here.More than 300 scientific research achievements have been obtained in the last decades of years,including 15 innovation awards,11 national science and technology progress awards,13 national science congress awards,25 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards,and 50 patents.

    Besides the achievements in the research,great efforts have been made to put the research achievements into the production.We developed a number of critical new materials for China national defense constructions in aerospace,atom bomb and H-bomb and satellite,long march series of carrier rockets,ships and warships,etc.and economic constructions in metallurgical energy,transportation,machinery,electronics,oil exploration and medical health,and made great contributions to the development of China functional materials.
